CRX Emulator is high risk. Code analysis and a static proof show that, after a CRX has been installed through CRX Emulator, the extension registers scripts on HTTP and HTTPS pages and injects compiled content-script JavaScript into the page's main execution context. That injected code receives a Chrome API shim and runs alongside the page, so it can read the current URL and document contents; dynamic browsing without an installed CRX did not trigger this path.
