Is Reading List safe?

Reading List fetches a favicon from DuckDuckGo for each saved page, disclosing the hostnames of your reading list to a third party.

When you open the popup, Reading List renders each saved item with a favicon image loaded from icons.duckduckgo.com/ip2/{hostname}.ico, built from the hostname of every page you saved. The browser issues a request to DuckDuckGo's icon CDN for each item every time the popup opens, sending those hostnames (and revealing the extension via the referer). The reading list is stored locally in chrome.storage.sync; there is no first-party favicon fallback or opt-out.
