Is Social Meter safe?
Social Meter sends the active tab URL to social-count APIs to display public interaction totals.
When its popup runs, Social Meter reads the active tab URL and uses it in requests to services such as Facebook, Google, Hacker News, Pinterest, and Reddit to fetch share counts. If the user grants optional host permissions, it can also query Buffer, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon, and VK with the same URL.

Where it sends data
Destinations our analysis observed Social Meter contacting. Sending data somewhere is not a finding on its own - an extension that syncs your settings has to talk to its own server - but it is where your data can go, and who else it goes to.
