Is Basic Gestures safe?

Basic Gestures lets any webpage trigger its close-tab gesture and close the active tab.

Basic Gestures runs its mouse-gesture script on every page and frame, listening for mouse events that form a down-right gesture. Because the script accepts synthetic page events and the background handler closes the active tab on that internal message, a webpage can make the browser close the current tab without sending data to an external service.
