Is Energy8 Wallet safe?

Low risk

Energy8 Wallet disguises its Solana RPC traffic as coming from Trust Wallet, a competing extension.

On install, update, and every startup, Energy8 Wallet's background script installs declarativeNetRequest rules that rewrite the Referer and Origin headers on its own requests to the Solana RPC endpoint solana.twnodes.com, setting both to Trust Wallet's real Chrome Web Store extension ID (chrome-extension://egjidjbpglichdcondbcbdnbeeppgdph) instead of its own. This makes every Solana balance and transaction lookup this wallet performs appear to an outside observer to originate from Trust Wallet, likely to pass an origin/referer allowlist that twnodes.com uses to gate free RPC access to specific known wallets.

energy8sup - no other listings under this identity, 4 shared hostnames

What this publisher told the store about itself, and the other listings that told it the same thing.

Shared hosts - 4 hostnames

Hostnames hardcoded in this extension that few other listings call. That can mean one operator behind both, and it can equally mean a small shared vendor, so it is context rather than a conclusion. Hosts that many listings call are left out: they are services, not connections.

Where it sends data

Destinations our analysis observed Energy8 Wallet contacting. Sending data somewhere is not a finding on its own - an extension that syncs your settings has to talk to its own server - but it is where your data can go, and who else it goes to.

  • solana.twnodes.com

Energy8 Wallet sends data to solana.twnodes.com. No other extension we have analysed sends data here.
