Is IE Tab safe?
IE Tab bundles a Windows executable and sends it to its native host process for self-replacement on every version upgrade.
The extension includes a PE32 binary (ietabhelper.dat) in its package. When the installed native helper is out of date, the extension reads this binary as base64 and sends it to the running native host via a chrome.runtime.connectNative message, which replaces itself on disk. The native host has broad local system access including registry reads and process management.
