Is NoteGem safe?
NoteGem sends supported AI chat page content to NotebookLM when a user adds it as a source.
On supported ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity pages, the popup asks the content script to convert the current chat DOM into markdown and capture the page title. The background then posts that markdown and title to NotebookLM's batchexecute endpoint with the user's credentials so it can be added to a selected notebook.

Where it sends data
Destinations our analysis observed NoteGem contacting. Sending data somewhere is not a finding on its own - an extension that syncs your settings has to talk to its own server - but it is where your data can go, and who else it goes to.
