Is Search and New Tab by Yahoo safe?

Search and New Tab by Yahoo sends destination URLs and a persistent tracking token to geo.yahoo.com on every new-tab link click.

Each time a user clicks a link or submits a search on the new-tab page, the extension fires a beacon to geo.yahoo.com containing the full destination URL and a persistent UUID (ctid) generated at install time and stored locally. The beacon also carries the UI section, link label, grid position, browser type, extension version, and locale. A separate listener exposes the user's stored location, favorite sites, and Yahoo cookie data to any other installed browser extension that connects to it.
