Is Shopping Assistant: AliExpress, Amazon, eBay safe?
Shopping Assistant opens hidden background tabs on shopping sites to set affiliate cookies for the developer.
On pages matching about 30,000 listed shopping domains, the extension requests an affiliate link from api.joinsafedeal.com and loads it in a pinned, inactive tab that it closes after loading, without user interaction. Separately, its anti-scam feature sends the hostname of each http(s) page you visit to Norton SafeWeb, URLVoid and MyWOT to score the site.
