Is 'Improve YouTube!' 🎧 (For YouTube & Video) safe?

Improve YouTube! modifies the YouTube interface and sends optional requests to googleapis.com using a bundled default API key for public video and channel metadata lookups.

The extension runs on youtube.com pages and applies cosmetic and functional changes such as night mode, sidebar adjustments, and player customization. When optional appearance features are enabled, it makes read-only requests to the YouTube Data API (googleapis.com) to fetch public video and channel metadata, falling back to a hardcoded API key if the user has not configured their own. No user credentials or private browsing data are sent in these requests.
