Is anonymoX safe?

anonymoX allows its VPN master server to open arbitrary URLs in new tabs on every periodic check-in.

Every ~15 minutes, anonymoX contacts master.anonymox.net to retrieve configuration. If the server's response includes a showURL field, the extension unconditionally opens that URL in a new browser tab without user interaction. The extension also fetches ad content from a server-controlled URL and injects it as an overlay into active tabs, with the ad frequency and source URL determined entirely by server response.
