Is Deal Finder safe?

Low risk

Deal Finder sends your Google search result URLs to Takeads and rewrites matching links into affiliate tracking links.

On Google search pages, the extension collects the URLs of organic search results and sends them to Takeads' monetization API. When Takeads returns a matching affiliate deal, the extension overwrites that result's link with a tracking URL and adds a 'Discounts' badge and banner pointing to the same link. The API calls, including a similar one triggered from the extension's popup, use a fixed access token that is embedded directly in the shipped code.

AI Tech - 1 other listing from the same operator, none carrying a finding

Shared hosts - 3 hostnames

Hostnames hardcoded in this extension that few other listings call. That can mean one operator behind both, and it can equally mean a small shared vendor, so it is context rather than a conclusion. Hosts that many listings call are left out: they are services, not connections.

Where it sends data

Destinations our analysis observed Deal Finder contacting. Sending data somewhere is not a finding on its own - an extension that syncs your settings has to talk to its own server - but it is where your data can go, and who else it goes to.

Deal Finder sends data to api.takeads.com. 3 other extensions we have analyzed send data here.
